Electromyogram
It's a technique that registers electrical activity in the skeletal muscles with a medical instrument called electromyograph, evaluating the muscles health and the nerves that control them. For this, a very thin needle is introduced through the skin into the muscle with a device (electrode) that registers the electrical activity of the muscles. It causes discomfort and some pain.
Electromyogram
Electromyogram
It is an exam which verifies the health of the muscles and nerves which control them, through the evaluation and record of the electrical activity that the muscles produce.
For this, a very thin needle is introduced through the skin into the muscle and the electrical activity is viewed on a monitor.
Electrophysiological studies
It's an invasive study in which a catheter is placed in the heart to measure electric activity and to detect arrhythmias. It's performed under anaesthesia. The catheter is put through a vessel of the neck or inner thigh (with local anaesthesia) and it can be seen through x-ray how it reaches the heart.
Electroretinography
It's an examination perform to measure the electric response of the eye's light-sensitive cells, called rods and cones, through the use of electrodes in the eyes. Anesthetic drops will be put in the eyes for the procedure.
Endocervical dilation and curettage
Through this procedure, the uterine neck is widen (dilatation) and an instrument to scrape (curettage) the lining of the womb (endometrium) is introduced. Samples of it are taken for being subsequently analyzed.
It is performed under general or local anesthesia.
Endometrial curettage
Endometrial curettage is a simple procedure in which a scrape and recollection of the tissue (endometrium) of the inside of the uterus is performed.
This can be done to:
-Diagnose or eliminate diseases, like uterine cancer
-Remove tissue after a spontaneous abortion
-Treat profuse menstrual bleeding, irregular periods or bleeding between periods.
-Perform a provoked or therapeutic abortion
It’s performed under general or local anesthesia based on the patient and her characteristics. Generally, it lasts 15 minutes.
Endorectal ultrasound
This study displays by ultrasound, through the introduction of an probe into the anus, the layers of the rectal wall, anal sphincters and organs around anus and rectum.
Endoscopy
Endoscopy
Endotracheal Intubation
This is an invasive procedure in which a plastic tube is placed through the mouth into the trachea in order to ensure that enough air enters in the lungs. This technique is performed under sedation and analgesia.

Endovenous laser ablation with radiofrequency
It's a minimally invasive treatment that uses heat generated by radiofrequency or laser energy to cauterize (burn) and close the veins abnormally enlarged in the legs, a condition called varicose veins.
Guided by an ultrasound, a catheter is inserted through the skin and inside the vein until reaching the enlarged vein. Then, through the catheter, a fiber laser or radiofrequency electrode is inserted.
It's performed under local anesthesia. The duration of the procedure is of approximately an hour.
Any procedure that implies the use of a catheter in a vessel has some risks. These include the damage of the vessel, hematoma in the area where the needle is put and infection.
Epley's Manoeuvre
It is a manoeuvre which includes a set of movements of the head and body from a sitting position to a leaning back position and vice versa with the aim of move (reposition) calcium particles out of the semicircular canals.
Two hours before the test, it is recommended to take 50 mg of dimenhydrinate to avoid vertigo, nausea or vomits the test may cause.
