Corticotropin (ACTH)
Corticotropin (ACTH) is a hormone released in blood by the pituitary gland, located in the brain. Corticotropin test measures the amount of this hormone in blood. For its examination a sample of blood is taken from a vein (venipuncture) Normal value: 9 to 59 pg/ml
Cortisol
Cortisol is a steroid or glucocorticoid hormone, produced by adrenal glands (glands located above the kidney). Its main functions are increase the levels of sugar in blood, suppress the immune system or defense system and help the metabolism of fat, proteins and carbohydrate.
Cortisol test measures the amount of this hormone in blood.
For the test of cortisol, a sample of blood is taken from a vein (venipuncture)
Normal value: 5 to 25 µg/dl in the morning (it descends at less than 50% at night)
Normal values vary based on the laboratory

Paranasal sinuses examination:
-Palpation (or touching): to know if any place causes pain
-Transillumination (According to the case): in a dark room, both sides of the face are illuminated, under the eyes, with the mouth open. It's done to see the presence of paranasal mucus.

CRH stimulation test
It’s a test that measures the level in blood of the cortisol and corticotropin (ACTH) hormones when a dose of another hormone, called Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) is administered.
For the test, 1 mg/kg of CRH is administered and through a subsequent blood sample the levels or cortisol and ACTH is determined at -15, 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes.
